Hi - I’m Katie

I believe that our homes are more than just places we live—they are our sanctuaries. They should be spaces where we can thrive, heal, and grow. I’ve spent my life immersed in design, construction, and creative arts, and through it all, I’ve learned that creating a home isn’t just about making it look good—it’s about making it work for you.

I took the long way round

Looking back, it makes perfect sense that I ended up in the world of home design and renovation. As a kid, I spent hours drawing up plans with my parents—figuring out what furniture to build next or how to rework a room with new built-ins. My first real design project was our second-floor bathroom. I designed the layout, and my dad brought it to life. That experience planted the seed: spaces could be shaped to fit our needs, and I loved the process of making that happen.

I went on to study Fine Arts, specializing in sculpture and later earned a Master’s in Interior Architecture and Design. While I always thought I’d become an interior designer, I had a realization during my master’s program—I love design, but my true calling wasn’t in being a designer. Instead, I found my passion in helping people take charge of their own homes, making renovation and design approachable, empowering, and, yes, even fun.

Learning by Doing

I’ve had a lot of different careers, and each one has taught me more about working with people, problem-solving, and navigating challenges than any textbook ever could. One of my favorite jobs was crafting bench-made copper and brass lighting—working with my hands, shaping raw materials, and bringing something functional and beautiful into existence.

Through my work in home renovation, I’ve been part of hundreds of projects—restoring, rebuilding, and reimagining spaces alongside homeowners, tradespeople, and entire communities. I’ve seen brand-new builds still full of surprises, and older homes that have stood the test of time. I’ve also made plenty of mistakes along the way, learning to own them, fix them, and grow from them. Those humbling moments have made me the person I am today.

Why I Do This

I know firsthand how overwhelming home projects can feel. But I also know that taking control of your space can be one of the most empowering things you do. My goal is to help homeowners break down the barriers that make renovations seem daunting, and build homes that truly support their lives. I also believe that more women belong in the trades, on construction sites, and in every space historically dominated by men. I want to encourage women and girls to take up the tools, learn the skills, and trust that they are just as capable of shaping their homes (and their futures) as anyone else.

A Few Fun Facts

• Every house I’ve ever lived in has had something custom-built to fit my needs.

• I tend to make things sound more basic than they might be —but I also believe that something can be simple and still difficult to do.

• I’m terrible at spelling and pronunciation. I was well into my 30’s before I learned it’s Tupperware, not Tubberware. We can laugh together when I stumble through words.

• I hit rock bottom in my early 30s, which led to a massive personal transformation. Through mindset work, therapy, and a whole lot of reading, I took control of my life—and I want to help others do the same. If you’re ready to create a home that works for you, I’m here to help.

Let’s make it happen—one space at a time.
